Manager II, Product Design

I work on holistic DesignOps programs for the Product Design org (~60 people). My recent projects include scaling our prototyping process, scaling our design system governance, creating a team skills assessment and career framework, and mentoring ICs into manager roles. For the Citrix Workspace design team (~25 people), I created several operational processes, playbooks, and roadshows on topics such as hiring and onboarding; career development; managing at Citrix; working with product design; and story pointing for designers. I have a penchant for aligning teams, increasing efficiencies, and reducing change aversion.

I led the creation of our end-user design system, including establishing a cross-functional governance process for components and patterns. I facilitate its maintenance and I’m working to scale it across all Citrix products. When needed, I roll up my sleeves to contribute usage guidelines and accessibility solutions.

When I managed the design projects on Citrix Workspace (a work management app), I increased my design team’s presence and participation within the SAFe framework. Subsequently, it gave design a prominent seat at the table so we could mobilize around design- led experiences.

To keep us nimble, I challenge designers to drive innovation through new tools, methods, and processes; yet balance what’s realistic and how to work toward an iterative path. I’ve taught the team advanced topics like designing for accessibility and localization best practices. I foster our team’s culture through social efforts such as Studio Fridays, hangouts, and more. I also demonstrate a high-level of organizational agility through forming solid cross-functional relationships. As a result, everyone is empathetic to creating great user experiences.

As a manager, I oversee five designers, hired seven designers and two managers for our team, and have a track record for identifying top-notch candidates.


Principal Product Designer

Lead Product Designer (8/2014 – 10/2017)

In these roles, I led high-profile product and feature innovations for ShareFile (Citrix Files) – a file sharing app. I’m able to strategically scale the design from an MVP and from small business to enterprise. I served as the team’s accessibility expert, where I conducted audits, provided tactical and strategic approaches, and collaborated with engineers to create accessible solutions.

I understood complex, technical/enterprise requirements with the aptitude to design simple user experiences for them. It allowed me to provide thoughtful, strategic solutions, where I could negotiate feature requirements and advocate for design best practices. I led by example with UX activities (workshops, ideating, sketching, critiquing, wireframing). On several occasions, I was selected to create video pitches, present concepts, and conduct demos at company all-hands and executive leadership meetings. I also conducted three due diligence evaluations for company acquisitions.

My projects included: integrations, mobile apps, responsive web apps, onboarding/first-time use, enterprise features, design system, product innovations.


Senior User Experience Strategist

I led, mentored, and collaborated with colleagues on UX strategies, viable solutions for project challenges, and speaking engagements. Since many clients were new to UX, I guided them through our process and educated them on methods, activities, and deliverables. On projects, I identified, developed, and implemented relevant UX activities along the entire redesign process. I collaborated with the Development Director on bid proposals, where I scoped out UX work.

Internally, I identified pain points and found ways to improve in-house practices. I also created a multi-device test plans for responsive sites and content management systems.

My clients included: U.S. Department of Agriculture, Education Pioneers, Employee Benefits Security Administration, Export-Import Bank of the U.S., U.S. Commission of Fine Arts, and more.


UX Designer / Quality Assurance Specialist

11/2012 – 8/2014
Rock Creek Strategic Marketing, Chevy Chase, Maryland

In this role, I created graphics/UIs for training applications and tested those products. Our clients were government agencies, which meant accessibility was required of our deliverables.
I tested web sites/apps, PDFs, and videos for accessibility. Because of my expertise, I created accessible content (e.g., tagging PDFs, writing captions, and video descriptions). To scale this support and reduce bug fixes, I taught writers, designers, and developers how to incorporate accessibility requirements in their process.
